Stage 1 - COMPLETE!

Hey Everybody,
We have successfully raised funds for Stage 1 to commence. That means that the fence will be going up soon, as well as the old quarterpipes from the 2008 park. Thanks to everybody that has helped so far. The past 2 and a half years have been a test of our will and determination to get a park in town, and success is just around the corner. Here's what we'll see very shortly:

And a possibilities for Stage 2, 3, and 4...

This could very well be the Billerica Skatepark, but if and only if, we acquire the appropriate funding to complete it. That means that we must raise awareness exponentially; tell everybody you know to like our page on facebook, donate, buy wristbands and shirts (when we can afford to make new ones, the fence ran our account dry), and if any of you are friends with eccentric millionaires, suggest that they invest in some community enrichment by giving us a big chunk of cash. This can, without a doubt, become the premiere street-based skatepark in Massachusetts if we stay focused and continue to be successful in our fundraising goals.

Thanks again, and look forward to Skatefest III around April vacation. Thanks.

Aight so yo. We need some spare hands for the skate fest. Want a lime green staff shirt? Gotta work a table, just like, selling food and drinks and shirts and all that good stuff. You get to sit in the shade under the shade tents, too. Let me know, message Joey (me) on Facebook and I'll put you on a table.

Billerica Skate Festival

So, the Billerica Skate Festival was held this friday. Before I get into detail of what happened, I'd like to thank Eastern Boarder, Monster, and DBAP Skateboards for helping us make this event turn out how it did.

We started setting up around 6 a.m. A few awesome kids were already down there and setting up when I arrived. We unloaded the boxes and some other supplies, and put kids to work. Dana put a hole in the box before the event even started, but we took care of it with a sign, some duct tape, and improvisation. Good thinking guys. The fire department came through and filled up the dunk tank, albeit disgusting billerica water, kids came through and took the plunge later in the day.

We opened at 10 a.m. Kids were even coming early, and everybody was having a great time. Lots of money was being raised by entry alone. The game of skate was lackluster, honestly I was disappointed by the turnout for it, but it was still fun. Zack Bartlett took first, winning 100 bucks. Kid donated 70 to the park, and used the other 30 to buy a DBAP deck.

Bands started playing at around noon. All the bands absolutely killed it. Definitely the main attraction of the event. There will be photos at the bottom of this post of some bands playing. Thanks to all the bands that came and played, none of this would have been possible without you guys.

All together we raised 3,123.19 on Friday. Thank you everybody that attended this event, everybody who helped out, all the bands, and anybody else who has supported us along the way. We now have enough for the fencing to go up, and planning for the design of the park can commence. Expect something incredible. Or, if you want to get involved with the design, e-mail me at billericaskatepark@yahoo.com.

ABC and the D'sI don't know what Flynn's going for here, but the skaters got jiggy with the ramp set up and threw this rollercoaster together.
